About Manhattan Project National Historical Park - Los Alamos...
The Manhattan Project was a top-secret World War II Government program in which the United States developed and deployed the world's first atomic weapons, known as Fat Man and Little Boy. The use of these weapons by the United States against Japan in August 1945 is one of the most important historical events of the 20th century. The Manhattan Project consisted of three primary locations across the country: Los Alamos, New Mexico; Hanford, Washington; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The bombs were designed in Los Alamos.
