The Lone Star Church is a former Presbyterian country church. The church was named by Lincoln Allen, a church leader, who saw the church as a "bright and shining light all alone on the prairie".
It was originally located 13 miles north of Gem, KS in Rawlins, Co. The church was founded by Danish settlers who organized the church May 18, 1897. The church was originally built in early 1915, but a tornado reduced the partially completed church to rubble. The members rebuilt and the church was dedicated Sept. 19, 1915.
The final meeting was held at the church August 19, 1965. It was moved to Brewster, KS in 1966 and became the Brewster Full Gospel Church until 1981. It later moved back to the Gem, KS area where it served as the chapel for the New Life for Girls Home. The church moved to its final home, the Prairie Museum of Art & History in 1988.
