Furnace Town Historic Site, deep in the Pocomoke Forest, surrounds the 19th century Nassawango Iron Furnace. Historic buildings, and artisan crafts which would have been necessary for daily life, are also on display.
The Iron Furnace was operational between 1830 – 1850, during which time around 300 people lived and worked in the village. After 1850, few people remained and eventually, all that remained was the furnace stack.
